Our History
Riverside Custom Woodworking was established in 1992 by Mark R. Evers and started in a leased cinderblock building on the riverfront in Fulton, Illinois, with Mark and one other employee. As business grew, the original building began to no longer meet increasing needs. Around the same time, Fulton was starting to develop an industrial building site, and in 1997, Riverside Custom Woodworking became the first tenant of the Fulton Industrial Site.
Business was good and began to expand. Mark hired a designer, more builders, and put up a second building to handle storage of lumber and completed large productions until customers were ready for delivery. The additional space became invaluable when building and assembling curved staircases.
Riverside Custom Woodworking has built a wide variety of wood products over the years for both private and commercial customers. Some of the more interesting products have been interior cabinetry for customized vans, renovating and matching the decades-old woodwork for the Clinton County Courthouse, creating the Judge’s Chambers at the Thomson State Prison, creating modular dorm furniture for a local university, and of course, designing and building curved staircases. Products have been shipped as far away as Florida, Chicago, and Connecticut, but the bulk of our business has been in a 50 mile radius.
In January 2011, Mark passed away and now Dana, his widow, continues his legacy. Riverside continues on with the same builders and designer, and the same determination to produce affordable, quality wood products that will someday be cherished antiques!
